Nothing but sweat and sweat! (pg 2)

“She put me in them new clothes again, and I couldn't do nothing but sweat and sweat, and feel all cramped up.”

When Huckleberry Finn came home, he felt as though she had wrapped him back up in her little cocoon of civility by dressing him up and making him clean. Twain shows here that even though you can dress someone someway, that person won’t change upon dress. He points out to the people that even though people can fancy themselves up with clothes, their inner self will resurface and that the clothes they wear won’t change a thing. This can be observed in American pop culture today. In the illustration you can see that the man can change the way he looks, but he will remain the same age and be the same person even though he ahs slightly changed his appearance.
