That’s a Frenchman’s Way of Saying it (pg.97)

When huck and Jim talk about how the different languages sucha s French, Jim i sin awe due to him not knowing anything about the outside world. He arges how could anyone speak any other language than that of English, and how French sounded weird. He also states that English is the "normal" language. Twain points out the ignorance of the people of America, mainly the south. He shows how close minded people are and how they lack intelligence. This can be seen in modern society. In America today, people remain close minded and ignorant to the world around them. They do things such as make fun of others cultures and values, because they only know one way of life, which is their own way. In this picture, the author shows how one of the characters only knows English and she is telling the other person how she is speaking English while he still has his translating calculator, despite he doesn't speak English.
